Weird/great idea - The Bulbdial Clock

Posted in Uncategorized by dotmrt on March 25th, 2008

Ironic Sans presents an idea - The Bulbdial Clock.
It’s not the hands that move on the clock, but the lamps. The minus is it’s size and the weakness with bright light.
But I think that it could be very cool in the ceiling of ones apartment. Lightning, cool design and witty clock in one.

Web developer tool - Chickenfoot

MIT & Google guys have built a Firefox extension that allows you to manipulate the webpage you are looking at. It enables you to write scipts, save a trigger for a specific URL and next time you go there, the script is triggered automatically. I loved the example about the Amazon bookstore where you can inject a link with the information about it’s availability in a library near you.
Check out the Google Tech Talk presentation.

Life After People - History Channel docmentary

Speculative fiction at it’s best. What if one day all humans simply don’t exist any more?
Day One - fossil fuel powerplants will start to power off
One Week - pets run away into the wild and probably die
One Year - plantlife expands into the cities
One Hundred Years - Bridges fail, roads covered with vegetation, animals roam the Earth, metal rusts away

Watch it here.

Thx for the link J.

Chick does 21 different accents

Posted in Uncategorized by dotmrt on March 3rd, 2008

It’s not as much the fact of doing 21 different impressions, but the speed she can transform from one to another. Anyone in Estonia can probably manage some “Alef Ström” swedish or some fould mouthed russian, but this girl has really done her homework.

ID-kaart Firefoxiga Ubuntu 7.10-s

Posted in Uncategorized by dotmrt on March 2nd, 2008

Kaasaaegne eestlane jala ei käi tuludeklaratsiooni esitamas ja pangas raha kandmas, selleks oleks vaja kas hetkel ainult EMTis levivat mobiili-ID teenust või ID-kaarti. Tahtsin Ubuntus ID-kaardi käima saada, soovitatavalt Firefoxi all.

http://ideelabor.ee/opensource/wiki/IdKaardiTarkvara/UbuntuLinux

Lühidalt:

$ sudo apt-get install opensc pcscd libccid
$ sudo apt-get install sun-java6-jre sun-java6-plugin sun-java6-fonts
$ sudo update-java-alternatives -s java-6-sun
zcat /usr/share/doc/libopensc2/examples/opensc.conf.gz > /etc/opensc/opensc.conf

Lisaks muuda failis /etc/opensc/opensc.conf

try_emulation_first = yes;
lock_login = false;

Testi asja

$ opensc-tool --list-readers
